The Arai GP-5

• The new GP-5 model will be the first of several based on a new design. While having many new visual features, including a restyled chin bar and chin vent slots, this new evolution of the GP series retains many similarities to the previous series, aincluding the five-point upper ventilation and a slightly modified shield.
• These helmets are constructed with Arai's exclusive SCLC (Super-Complex Laminate Construction) shell technology, which provides superior energy management properties by using proprietary, cutting-edge fiberglass-based materials and construction techniques. This allows the helmets to maintain low weight without the use of trendy materials which may not be properly suited for use in helmet applications.
• The interior remains very similar to the GP-4 series with the addition of appromximately 5mm more room in the facial area and slightly more forehead room. Arai's GP series use a proprietary flame-retardant interior material knwn as "Lastan".
• The chin bar area has been modified to incorporate two air intake slots which have been moved up to just under the shield. The now solid chin bar has some subtle details in the mold and has been extended down slightly, making for a much more robust piece.
• The GP-5 shield is slightly different in shape and size compared to the older style so as to reduce weight. The shield mounting hardware is also totally redesigned and improved.
• Upper ventilation remains the same as the GP-4/mk3, incorporating three intake scoops in front and two delta exhaust outlets in the rear.
• The interior fit is typical Arai, benefiting from years of research and refinement, resulting in a helmet that more closely matches the shape of the human head. Such a close fit allows for the smallest possible helmet to be worn while remaining comfortable. Oftentimes, a poor fitting helmet results in the use of a helmet that is a full size too large when the wearer tries to avoid painful pressure points.
• Combined with incredible fit and comfort, Arai concentrates on blance and center of gravity. All too often, people concentrate more on the weight of a helmet instead of how that weight is distributed over the entire helmet, the amount of the helmet's weight that is carried low and most importantly, the way that weight is transferred to your head. A properly fitted helmet will distribute its weight more evenly over and around your head, making the helmet seem lighter than it is. A helmet that is more evenly balanced and carries more of its weight down low will also appear to be light and cause less fatigue.
• The GP-5 represents the result of Arai's pursuit of a comprehensive package, providing comfort and funtion in an attractive package while masking the energy management system within.

The Arai GP-5 K

• The new GP-5k is largely based on its big brother, the GP-5, while offering a more affordable alternative for drivers not wanting all the features of the more expensive GP-5. The GP-5K is heavily favored by sedan or rally drivers who do not require all of the upper ventilation found on the GP-5 while at the same time appreciate the slightly larger eyeport openning (approximately 10mm- 5mm up and 5mm down).
• Constructed with Arai's exclusive CLC (Complex Laminate Construction) shell technology, which is less costly and slightly heavier than our lightest SCLC material, allowing for a lower retail cost while still providing the same level of impact energy management.
• The exterior an interior shape and design are identical to those found on the GP-5 and use the same shield, shield hardware and tear-offs.
• The ventilation is comprised of a single intake and single exhaust duct.

The Arai SK-5 (Karting)

• The new SK-5 model is based largely on Arai's latest openwheel auto racing helmet, the GP-5, worn by top drivers in Formula One, CART and Indycar. Using the same shell mold and shield, the SK-5 gives the look most desired by karting racers while incorporating specific features with function more effectively under kart caring conditions.
• Nylon liner: Not only is the liner material lighter, it also breathes better, absorbs more sweat and allows the ventilation system to function more effectively at Karting speeds. The nylo material also washes better and more easily to allow the helmet to stay fresher, longer.
• 4-point Upper ventilation system: Large, closeable, twin intake scoops force more cooling air directly into the interior crown of the liner, which flows over the top of the head and exhausts out through the double-delta2 bridged exhaust vent (which is also closable). This forced intake and venturi vacuum exhaust system creates increased airflow, drawing out more heat and humidity created while racing hard.
• Constructed with Arai's exclusive CLC (Complex Laminate Construction) shell technology, which is less costly and slightly heavier than our lightest SCLC material, allowing for a lower retail cost while still providing the same level of impact energy management.
